The Current annual production from capture fisheries is about 461,000 tons and from aquaculture 111,000 tons. If managed well fisheries can help Uganda attain middle income status by 2020 While exports to international markets rose from 4,751 tons worth US$5.308M in 1991 and peaked at 36,616 Mt valued at US $143.618 M in 2005 the current export levels are at 17,597 tons valued at US$134.791M in 2015.
