Statement: Civil society leaders condemn ‘parliament siege’ over age limit

Leaders of civil society organisations in Uganda have condemned the arrest of journalists, members of parliament  and activists following debates on lifting the presidential age limit from the constitution.

In a statement signed by 18 civil society organisations on 28 September 2017, the leaders stated: “We…condemn in the strongest terms possible the brutal defilement of parliament that happened yesterday. In the same breath, we condemn the shameful, barbaric and primitive of evil might by the security.”
