According to a statement from the Uganda Petroleum Exploration and Production Department, President Yoweri Museveni has assented to The Petroleum (Refining, Conversion, Transmission and Midstream Storage) Bill, 2013 making it an Act of Parliament.
The Law, the first of its kind in East Africa gives way for the construction of the first Greenfield refinery in Uganda.
The Act became effective on 26th July 2013 and was published in the Uganda Gazette. The bill, which was passed by parliament during February, 2013 received President assented on 27th June, 2013.
